Parent-Child Interaction Therapy
PCIT | FAQ
-
Parent-Child Interaction Therapy, or PCIT, is an evidence-based treatment that helps improve the relationship between caregivers and their young children while also addressing challenging behaviors Through live coachign and structed play sessions, parents learn effective strategies to strengthen attachment, increase positive behavirs, and manage issues like defiance, impulsivity, and tantrums. PCIT empowers caregivers with tools that work — and helps bring more peace and connection to the home.
-
PCIT is typically designed for children between the ages of 2 and 6. To get the most out of treatment, caregivers are required to set aside just five minutes a day, at least five days a week, to practice the skills at home through special one-on-one playtime.
-
The length of PCIT can vary based on each family’s unique needs and their consistency in practicing skills at home. Families attend weekly 50-minute sessions, with progress moving at a pace that supports lasting growth and connection.
